She’d Helped the Elders Dig Up the Tales of Their Lives, Telling the Stories, to Help the Elders Effectively Chase Away that Loneliness at Old Age

Helping the elders find that doorway to connect with the outside world that they’d lost contact with as they grew older, off of the Front Page Sections, translated…

Six months before the ninety-three-year-old elderly woman, Li passed away, she’d hosted an art exhibition of her life’s story and art at a certain café in Kaohsiung, there were 120 who’d shown up for the events that day, and everybody was someone important to her.  Toward the end of the exhibitions, she’d gotten up and bowed to them, “thank you for looking after me my whole life.”, she’d felt very blessed, that she’d had a very rich and fulfilled life.

Li was a child bride who’d lived through the harder times, she was a battered woman under her ex’s abuse, an ordinary elderly woman who lived in a small house in the alleys, although she was brave and steady her whole life, she’d felt that there was nothing worth mentioning of her own life, to the point that she’d felt lonely as her body grew weaker as she got older.

Six months before the show, the New Life Art’s C.E.O., Kang helped her looked back through her whole life using art.

In the process of reviewing over her life, Li told a ton of stories, many of which, her children didn’t know about, and that was when her own children learned, that their mother who’d been illiterate when she was younger, to change her own life, ran from Zhongli to Kaohsiung, and she’d saved someone else’s life, and quickly found a group of supporters who could help her survive, and that was when her children gained a brand new respect toward their, mother, “mom’s amazing!”

Other than putting that new force of life into her own family, recalling the past also helped her connected with thing of her past.  Li recalled those friends she had from long ago, whom she’d lost touch with, and she’d immediately called them up.  Some of her friends are no longer alive, but she’d still, put them into her creations of her own memories.

Kang worked with Li for six months, she’d gained a new understanding of companionship—the powers of companionship doesn’t necessarily come from the “physical person”, but when you think about that certain someone, remembering the love, remembering the times you two had shared, whether or not s/he is around, you’ll feel, no longer alone or lonely.

Kang told, that in her service, she’d responded back to the elder’s loneliness by letting them tell the tales of their youths to her, she’d invited the elderly to tell her what had happened in the past?  How did they feel?  How did they respond to the situations?  Then, they’d talked about how the elderly feels about the events right now?  Through this process, the elderly were able to review over things in their lives, and also, created the new connections with others.  A lot of the elders could use their artistry as a point of origin, to start up the conversations with their own, families.

And so, this person had found a way for the elderly to open up, through art, and, that is needed, because as we grow older, we will, lose the connection with the society, because we will have less and less in common with what’s going on, as we’re, old, and the rest of the outside world is, still, quite young, and this program helps the elders find that connection back, and it’s important to feel that connection to the outside environment, to age gracefully.

The Police Came Knocking on the Citizen’s Door in the Middle of Night Because He’d Posted a Photo of an Egg He’d Cracked that Had the Green Egg Whites Inside, Who Now DARES, Reports on the Rotten Eggs

Yeah, see how this, IS political assassination, instead of looking AT their own bad behaviors, or importing in the bad eggs, they’re now, having the police go after the citizens who’d found just ONE out of, god knows how many, BAD EGGS that’s been shipped here!  And we’re supposed to what?  Trust that the DDP has our best interest in mind???  Get REAL here!  Off of the Front Page Sections, translated…

The man from Shinchuan, Hsinbei City awhile ago posted the green egg white on FB as “Stinky Green Egg”, and the head of Executive Department, Chen called it fake news, the Department of Agriculture had made a visit to the Zhongzhen Second Substation to sue Hsieh for defamation in Taipei; the police found that this matter was related to food safety concerns, immediately zoomed in on the IP address, within eight short hours, they’d taken Hsieh into custody and questioned him; during the investigation, Hsieh stressed that the photo was real, that he’d not, faked it, and to prove his innocence, he’d handed over his cell phone to the police for them to check.

Based off of Penal Code 169, section 1, “those who’d defamed a government official will be sentenced to under seven years of prison time”, and based off of this, if the agencies in charge of investigation found no valid evidence of defamation, the agencies would get sued for libel and slander.  And, as the victims proved that the “stinky green eggs” were factually, based, and started suing the head of state for defamation, would the D.A. work this case?  Would the D.A.’s office implore the same means in this case, like how they’d gone after the man in the middle of the nights?

The issues of eggs already got the entire country worked up, the highest executive agency, the Department of Agriculture both hadn’t reviewed over their own actions, to get to the bottom of the truths of the matters, instead, they’d used the shortest time to sue the whistleblower for “spreading the false news” and “defamation”, and the D.A.’s office, the police worked the case immediately, to prevent the “rumors” from spreading.  But this will cause the chill effect, because the “stinky egg incident” wasn’t an isolated case, and, after this, who else would, DARE to blow the whistles on such matters?  And, even IF the individual had prerecorded the video of her/him cracking open the eggs, then, the person would get accused of being “self-directed”, which will also cause the police to go and arrest the person in the middle of the night.

and, here’s the news channel that got taken off of the T.V. by the DDP reporting on it…

On this particular case, the government wasted away the taxpayers’ dollars, the Department of Agriculture responsible for aiding and abetting the labeling of the expiration dates of the eggs imported in, did the eggs get into the schools, or the local markets, and the military?  The government didn’t give the people any reasonable responses, but, all the facts are, now pointing towards how the government lacked in action, and that someone had covered up the importer of the eggs, so, WHO had, destroyed the people’s trusts in the government?  The DDP couldn’t even make sure that the eggs are safe to consume, and it goes after ordinary citizens for blowing the whistles on them, to use the man as a warning to all.  The DDP in so doing, is merely looking out for its own election advantage, and we are still, all well aware of that, observant, and watching.

And so, this is how when things go bust, and the government couldn’t find any more excuses, they’d started, pointing the fingers to the whistleblower, and the FACT is that the man did crack open that egg he’d bought at the supermarkets, with the green egg while from the inside, and that can’t be faked, and besides, why would one of us, ordinary citizens, want to, SPREAD the FEARS of food safety, and it should be, the government’s jobs to MAKE sure that none of these, bad produces get into the country, but these agencies are taking the bribes, and allowing these poisonous food items to, get sold locally.

What I’d Learned, from My Son’s Accidentally Scratching Someone’s Car, Opening the Door Too Carelessly

The give and take, on kindness, and forgiveness, the lessons these two adults had the opportunities to learn, from each, other, translated…

Recently, the passenger side of my car was, hit, although it was only a minor scratch, I’m guessing, that it was from someone opening her/his car carelessly, that’s caused it, and every time I’d seen the scratched, I’d felt, taken.  And, the wheels turned, because a bit later on, my son had, scratched, someone else’s, car.

It was raining lightly that afternoon, I took my kids to shop, and as I was getting onto the car, my son didn’t shut the car door completely, and as he’d opened it to shut it properly, he’d opened the door too wide, and slammed the door too hard, and it’d, scratched the car that’s, parked adjacent to ours.  At the moment I was too freaked out and worried, immediately, I’d gotten out to check, and found, that there was, a close-to-three-centimeter long scratch on the other, car.

illustration from UDN.com

I’d felt flustered then, got back into my car, took out my pen and paper, and left the apologetic note, with my phone number, then, clipped it onto the windshield of the other car.  As I got into my car, I’d started, nagging my son, “I’d told you time and time again, to be careful when you open the door, why did you forget again?”, at this time, the owner of the car my son had, accidentally scratched showed, it was a mom with a short hair, with her daughter.  As she’d got onto the car, she’d found my note on her windshield, then, got out of the car.  I immediately took my son out to apologize, she’d checked her car first, then, told me, “it’s quite all right, I shall get it away with a wipe down, no big deal.”, then she drove off.

As we got home, I’d asked the kids, why they thought the car owner said it was okay?  As they discussed it a bit, they’d believed, that it was because there was, no marking on her car, I’d shown the photo I took at the moment to show my children, told them, “see, there was that, scratch, but because she’s a kind woman, she’d not just forgiven us, she’d even made us feel relieved, telling us that her car was, okay.  If others wronged us in the future, we must be just like her too, to try and, forgive, okay?”, the kids nodded.

We’d thought, that that was the end, but, there was, an, unexpected, development that came after.

The following day I was surfing through social media, and found an article with over a thousand kudos, “I’d gone shopping at Hukou at about two in the afternoon, as I was done, I got back to my car, found a note on my windshield, as I was going to check the note out, the car owner of an adjacent car pulled it up, and told me that she’d, left the, note, she said, that her kids opened the car door too hard, and it’d, caused a tiny dent on my car, as I’d gone out to check, my car had, some, tiny, abrasion, but I’d not gotten mad, instead, I’d felt, that this mom was, an amazing, role model, and I’d, immediately, told my kids, that they should, face up to what they did that was wrong bravely, and honestly, I’m truly grateful for your honesty, and kindness!”, I’d opened my eyes wide, shocked to find that what had happened to me, was now, online, I’d read farther down into the comments sections, “admitting that you’re wrong and apologizing for it, there are, still, a lot of kind people in this, world, you are both, amazing!”, “You both are amazing examples for the society!”, “the cycle of kindness here!”

After I’d read, I’d felt, ashamed, the woman WAS, the victim here, and yet, she’d called me kind, but I’d not, leave a message at the FB page to tell her thanks.  This mom, I want to let you know, that I’m more than grateful for your kindness and your forgiving heart, to allow me and my children to learn, how to, forgive.  And, you in commending me, showed your noble character, thank you, for warming all of our, hearts!”

And so, this is, something wonderful that’s, happened in the every day life of ordinary people, and, the mom who’s child had caused a scratch on the other woman’s car had taught and learned a lesson to the owner of the other car, and the owner of that other car also, taught AND learned, a lesson too, it’s a kindness give-and-take, that’s occurred here.

A Member of the Public Posted a Photo of the Egg with Green Goo Inside, the Police was Too Quick to Arrest Him

Yeah, that’s what the DDP does, the BEST, going after us, ordinary citizens, who are, impacted by their, rules and regulations, and we can’t even, object or voice our opinions on how this DICTATORSHIP political party is making us, ingest POISON!  Off of the Front Page Sections, translated…

The Head of State Blamed the Individual for Attempting to Spread the False News, the Department of Agriculture is Pursuing Him in Defamation, Suspected of Being Not Equal to Proportion, What the Man Was Charged on, and the “Crime” He’d, Committed

A man from Hsinbei City, Hsieh awhile ago posted a photo of a cracked egg with the green and white inside, with the labels of “Stinky Green Egg”, the head of state, Chen called it fake news, the Department of Agriculture yesterday went to Taipei’s Zhongzhen Second Substation to pursue the man who’d posted the photos on defamation, the police believed, that this was a huge matter, relating to food safety, immediately zoomed in on the man’s FB IP address, and in eight short hours, they’d, arrested the person, Hsieh saw the officers coming to his door late in the nights, was compliant, during the interviews with the police, Hsieh told them, that the photos were, absolutely real, that he’d not made it up, to prove his innocence, he’d even, given them his cell phone.

Hsieh (age 43) went to the supermarkets, to pick up a case of Taiwanese Agricultural Foundation eggs on September 18th, with the expiration date of October 7th, with the subtitle of “is this imported?” with the photo attached, and it’d sparked up discussions online, the online community questioned the authenticity, and shortly after the post was put up, it was, taken down, which caused more attention.

On the 26th, as Chen was asked about this, he’d claimed that this was “fake news”, called out to the public to heighten their awareness.  As Hsieh was interviewed by TVBS, he’d claimed that he was innocent, that he’d posted on two groups on FB, the post he did on the supermarket site got deleted by the manager of the site, the other post was still up, he’d felt helpless, of being questioned of the truth in his post.

In his interview, he’d bore witness, testifying that this was what he’d seen, the first few eggs he cracked was okay, but that particular egg, was quite odd, there’s this, blurred stamp on the shells, he couldn’t read the digits off of it, suspected that the exported eggs were mixed in with the locally produced, then, stamped with the same digits, then, sold off of the shelves.

“The Green Egg Incident” caused the debates online, the Department of Agriculture believed that someone who wanted to sway the masses had posted the fake news, two days ago, went to the Zhongzhen Second Substation and filed for the defamation claims, the detective squad found, that the post was by the man in Sinchuang, Hsinbei City, sent the officers from the station to deliver the papers to him, as Hsieh was called by the security guard of his community that “the police are here for you”, he’d gone willingly to the station, to get interrogated.

all it takes, is ONE…

Hsieh claimed to the police, that he was truthful in his posting, denied having made anything up, an hour afterwards, he’d left the station; although police didn’t have concrete evidence, but still charged him with defamation, sent to the D.A.’s, and the members of the public started asking on FB: will we get taken into custody, if we start questioning if the eggs sold in our local supermarkets were imported?

Other than the Department of Agriculture suing the whistleblower, the Central Fowl Foundation also stated in a press last night, that similar stories had been trending online of late, that it’d affected the image of the eggs produced in this country, and severely impacted the working means of the teams in the importing department.  To protect the reputation, and to get to the truth, the Central Fowl Foundation had sent the officials to the Zhongzhen Second Substation in Taipei to file a charge.

what the man posted, off of UDN.com

But, the Department of Agriculture’s suing for defamation, the police didn’t rush on it, and a lot of the online community members started leaving the messages questioning, “we are buying the eggs from Taiwanese Agricultural Foundation, what has it got to do with the Department of Agriculture?”, and “stop harassing the ordinary citizens like us!”, and there are the members of the online community who’d spoken on the behalf of the Department of Agriculture as well.

And so, because someone caught a BAD egg, with the colors of Brazilian flag (that’s odd, isn’t it???), and posted it on FB, and he got, the whole witch hunt, and that, is exactly what the net armies, the DDP is, extremely, excellent at, going AFTER we the people, for wanting a safer food source, and what’s worse is, that the government still doesn’t see themselves as abusing the rights of we the people, abusing power!

And we the people are, played for, STUPID, and there’s nothing that WE, laypersons can do about it, because we are ruled by the DICTATORSHIP, that we the majority had, voted, into, office…

My Mother, Who’d, Weathered Through the Hard Time of Her Life, and Still, Kept Going, to Give to the Family

The life, the times, of a, traditional Chinese woman, who were, raised by the values of putting her families before her own self, and it’d, served her well too, she’d given everything to her families, and her giving to the family was, greatly, appreciated by her loved ones too!  Translated…

The times, was what made this woman tough, into who she was, destined, to become…translated…

Before She Was Seventeen, My Mother Had to Risk Getting Stopped by the Japanese Police, Hauled Out the Pickled Cabbage, the Duck Eggs, on the Night Trains, to Go to Taipei to Find the Japanese Government Official’s Dorms, to Get Her Younger Siblings’ Daily Needs Such as Their Clothes, Etc., Etc., Etc……….

At the Age of Six or Seven, She’s Already Her Families’ Agile Helper in Selling the Vegetables

My mother’s maiden name was Jing-Yu Liao, born in 1925, at the time, Taiwan is at the state of being a colony of Japan, my maternal grandfather, Liao was really righteous, with ten children, my mother was the second born, there was a chunk of land of about one square kilometer that my maternal grandfather had been, given that’s dried up, and the family had to rely on the duck they were raising, that produced the duck eggs, and pickling the cabbages, to barely make ends, meet.  Recalled how when we were children, we’d gone to our maternal grandfather’s patch to roast up the corn on the cobs, the dig up the yams, felt that it was, so fun, and as we grew older, we’d realized, that the hard life my mother, her siblings, and her parents, had had.

Due to how they’d lived in poverty stricken means, at the age of around six or seven, my mother went with my great grandmother to the marketplaces to sell the vegetables.  She was well-behaved, and intelligent, as my maternal great grandmother weighed the produces, this young girl had already, calculated up the costs, and, when they couldn’t make the changes, she’d run to the “Ke Niu Gong Convenience Shop” to exchange the money to make the changes to the customers (like “Cinderella”, many years later, my maternal grandmother’s only daughter married to the grandson of the man who’d owned the convenience shop where she ran to get the changes from).  My mother already learned of people’s ways, and would throw in a handful of yam leaves, a few stems of green onions, and so, before noontime, my great grandmother’s stand was, all, sold, out.

With too many children, my grandparents couldn’t raise them all, and my mother shouldered up the responsibilities of raising her own, younger, siblings, used her gentle tone of voice, to get her younger siblings to stop fighting, the children in poor families had to learn to discipline themselves, and need to learn how to weather through the hardships of their, lives, she’d even enticed her siblings with “I’ll steam the radish cakes for you guys to eat next month” as an incentive to get her younger siblings to finish their, chores.  During the Japanese warring era, especially post World War II, in Taiwan, the Japanese government started, controlling all the goods allotted to the locals, whether you’re a Japanese or a Taiwanese, you’d lived in, lacking of food, of clothing, and of, ordinary necessities, before seventeen, my mother had to risk getting caught by the Japanese police, haul out the pickled cabbage, the duck eggs, on the night trains to Taipei, to find the Japanese official’s dorms to sell them the items, in exchange for her younger siblings’ clothes, foods, and other daily necessities, my third uncle recalled how he had two shirts that were exchanged from the items, brought back by his eldest sister, that’s, warmed him up a long, long, long time in his life.

Although my maternal grandfather was poor, but he had a wide connection, dressed to the nines, he’d gone to the temples, and gotten the spirits of the statues back to the hometown to worship, and called out the relatives, the friends, the next-of-kin in Wugu to worship the deity, during which time, all the celebrations, all the offerings, my mother became, my maternal grandmother’s, agile helper.  And the renowned puppeteer group, Huang, and his son, had brought the troupes to the countryside to put on the performances, to get the livelihoods of his troupe members going, the ten-day tour during the fifties, with the budgets of less than a thousand dollars, my grandparents had to provide the dining for more than ten performers, five times a day, nobody DARED taken on the orders, but my maternal grandfather agreed at the moment of hearing it being, mentioned, and this heavy burden once more, landed on my, mother.  At the time, Master Huang was satisfied with the food, and, he’d put on many shows of the “Yunzhou Kung Fu Master”.

Worked in AND Out of Her Home, She’d Illuminated, Provided for Her, Whole, Family

It was 1944, my father married a woman he’d met in Japan many years ago, but they didn’t have children, and he’d, wanted to marry again, my mother, who had, many suitors, who is, beautiful, and full of, grace, as the matchmaker and my father’s begging and pleading, became a second wife to him, entered into my paternal grandfather’s, large, family, and had to, oversee, help manage the huge chunk of plantation, had to cook with the roosters that crowed for the workers, looking after six children (my eldest brother was given to my father’s first wife to be raised as her child).  When the rice was ripened, the poor families would come and pick up the grains that were dropped on the land, sometimes, they would, fight for the grains, my mother understood how it was living in poverty, rarely chased them away.  And, the local neighbors needed the money to pay for their children’s tuitions, and my parents would give them the scholarship moneys for performing well in school.

Later, Taiwan had the land ownership by the planter plans set up, my father was given the four major stocks, but growing up in the agricultural background, he had no sense of investing, he’d quickly sold, and gotten the capitals.  He’d studied in law, wasn’t agile in business, whether it be the owning and operating a forestry company, chemical plant, a marble company in Taipei, to setting up the badminton racket producing plant in Douliou, he’d lost money, and our families relied on the loans to get us by, and, once more, the heavy burdens of household economics, landed on my mother, again, she’d used her courage, encouraged my father, that we can live off of just porridge and pickled radish.

illustration from UDN.com

At the start of Taiwanese independence, my father got involved in the democratization of Taiwan movement, voted as the C.E.O. of a farmer’s union, county manager, councilman, and other positions in the local government, my father was very welcoming to the guests, and there would often be the guests who would come visit my home a lot, and my mother would make the cakes, the foods to serve to them.  Once, the head of government, Lin drove to Yunlin, and went out of his way, came over to visit, it was already night, my mother inquired, “did you have supper?”, “Yes I had!”, my mother watched him, told him, “if it’s okay with you, I’d prepared something that’ll, satisfy your hunger”, immediately, she’d gone to prepare the meals, within fifteen minutes, three entrees, and a soup, Lin the department head had two bowls.  He was there to visit the grounds, didn’t have the time for his meals; got to his friend’s house, he was hungry, my mother’s kindness, ingenuity was really amazing.

When my father was campaigning for the head of city council, my parents ran to all twenty local districts to ask for the votes, and, the two voting results, my father won the first time (didn’t get half, but gained the most number of votes), but lost the second time, he’d come back, defeated, and ever since, he couldn’t, get back up, it nearly, took his, life.  My mother held firm to the beliefs of, there will be another door or window that will open up, helped him through this obstacle of life and death.

My mother is a good wife, a fitting mother under traditional beliefs, she couldn’t read that much, but wanted us all to become, educated, her seven children were all college graduates.  She could recall the birthdays of all of her, grandchildren, how many of what zodiac sign in each of our families, she’d recalled.  As her sons, her sons-in-law came home, she’d prepared our, favorite foods, she’d taken care of her daughters-in-law in their postpartum recovery phase, take care of her grandchildren.  My mother works in and out, busied her whole life through, assisted others, treated all our close and distant relatives with kindness, her nephews, her nieces, a total of more than seventy, and, many of the younger generations, when they have troubles at work, they’d come to consult with my father, but because of how my father had an awful temper, they’d not dared speak too much, and my mother would, help every one of them with getting what they’d needed, advices, help from my, father.

My mother labored hard through her whole life, but never complained, it’d depleted her.  After my father died, it was like the poet, Su had, described, she was overwhelmed with losing her husband, fell ill for a couple of months.  In the final years of her life, she was overcome with many progressive conditions, my fourth and youngest siblings who’d filed for retirement early took care of her the most, the hired help from Indonesia, Yani took care of her for more than a decade, my mother who’d studied in night school for two years, taught her some simple Japanese, we’d made fun of Yani, that now, she can apply for work in Japan too.

My mother illuminated others with her whole life, brightened the paths for her offspring, the neighbors, as well as my father’s friends too.  The writer, Hu once stated, that with his pen, he couldn’t, come close, to described the love his mother had shown to the family.  At this time, my pen couldn’t, describe the love, the kindness, that our mother had, given to, us. And so, this is the life, the times, the trials, the hardships of a traditional Chinese woman’s life, she’d worked hard her whole life, giving to her families, because that, was how she’d been, socialized, how she was, raised to, put her families, first, and she’d, used her behaviors, to teach her younger generations what is righteous, she’s a good role model for her children, and the younger generations.

The Message Board that Discussed the Facts, Had Been Threatened These Past Couple of Days

This is entirely due to the net armies “raised” by the DDP, because there’s someone who speaks the truth about the importing of the eggs from Brazil with the avian flu…see how they hammered down someone who told the truth like it is???  Under the dictatorship of the DDP, people will never have their voices again, cyberbullying, with the culprit being???  Yep, the DDP, off of the Front Page Sections, translated…

The host of the Agriculture Fans Page of “Lin Bay Good Oil”, Lin disclosed how there are so many unanswered questions, and doubts of the imported eggs, but he was threatened, and his families threatened as well, last Friday, he’d announced pulling the plug on his fans page, and, ducked out, this caused the communities to back him up.  On Monday, he’d broken the silence, and had his attorney issued a statement, and two nights ago at eleven, he’d posted that he received a threatening e-mail again.  But because of the photograph of the threatening e-mail, his article was, pulled.

what the DDP and its goonies of net armies are doing to the citizen who are speaking up against them, telling the TRUTHS…photo from online

The threatening e-mail used the name of the Pingdong Head District Attorney, with “I’d planted a timed bomb next to the X number of Baseball Avenue in Pingdong, set to blow up at three in the afternoon”, along with the letter on behalf of the Kaohsiung Tourism Department head, Kao, “within seven days, your children will be dead, your parents will die by accident, do accompany them while you can, give them the good foods and drink, this is, your, karma!”

In an interview, Lin pointed out, that he’d not deleted the mail, that it was the whistleblowers’ taking the messages, down.  He didn’t believe that it was from the government official, Kao.  Yesterday, Kao cleared to the press, that “it wasn’t me”!, and already called the cops two evenings ago.  The head D.A. of Pingdong also received a mail using his name that he’d not written, the district attorney’s office stated, that they’d relayed the email to internal affairs, and they’d, reported it, and called it in to the county police department of Pingdong as well.

And so, this is clear, who’s behind all of this, it’s Tsai’s net armies, as you’d already, seen how POWERFUL the DDP net armies are, threatening people, hiding behind screen, because that’s what this corrupted political party is extremely good at: silencing the voices that speak the truths, and we the people can’t do a thing, as this dictatorship had its hand, in EVERYTHING single government agency now.

The Younger Generation of a Rich Family Beaten a Male College Student to Injury, Still Received Only NINE Years in the Second Trial

Money, is what makes this world, go, ‘round, as this case had, proved, and this is still, INJUSTICE!  Off of the Front Page Sections, translated…

Gotten into a Crash in His Maserati, and He’d Beaten Someone Up, the Settlement of Seven Million Dollars N.T. Didn’t Go Through, the Two Accomplices Received the Light Sentences of Only Three Years Each, the Families: the Justice System Had, Disappointed Us

The second-generation of a food manufacturer, Chang two years ago, drove his Maserati, had a fender-bender with the college student, Song, Chang was suspected of ganging up on Song with his accomplices Lee, and Chen, beaten the college student to severely injured; the Taichung High Subsidiary Courts yesterday found Chang guilty of attempted murder, sentenced him to nine years, exactly same as he’d received from the first trial, while Lee and Chen were found guilty of physical assault, gotten their sentences changed from the four years from the first trial, to three.

As Song’s mother learned of the verdict, she’d stated that she “couldn’t accept this outcome”, she’d told, that during the trial, Chang and his other two accomplices continued denying having committed the crimes, there’s no sense of remorse from them, they’d not reached a settlement agreement either, and, during the time of the trial, the Chang’s parents had even lifted their son to the gym, to the amusement park, to be interviewed by the news media, leaving her and her son in fears of getting hounded by the press, and Chang only received such a light sentence, that it was no justice that was served that she’d felt, “disappointed toward the justice systems”.

The second trial found, that Song, the male college student had fallen down onto the pavements twice during the time, that Lee, Chen had physically assaulted Chang before he’d fallen a second time, based off of the information provided by the D.A. for the indictment, the courts can’t confirm that Song’s injuries were from before the second time he’d fallen to the pavement, retracted the original verdict, and, charged the individuals with assault, sentenced each to two years six months, and the other two who’d ganged up on Song and his friends, they were sentenced for the physical assaults at eight months each, and they should all serve a full sentence of three years.

On Chang’s part, the Collectivist Courts maintained the attempted murder and forced behavior charges, that there was only one behavior, but multiple crimes being charged, so they’d, tossed back the original verdict, sentenced him separately to eight years six months and ten months, that he should serve a total of nine years combined, same as what he’d received on the first trial.

Two years ago, the college student, Song drove past Xitun District in Taichung, as he changed lanes, he’d had a fender bender with Chang in his Maserati, Chang and his passengers, Lee and Chen, beaten Song that he had to get sent to the I.C.U.; the first trial found Chang guilty of attempted murder, sentenced to nine years, Lee and Chen guilty of assault, both sentenced to four years eight months.  During the appeal for the second trial, Chang’s father attempted to settle with the college student, Song and his families for seven million dollars N.T., but the families refused.

And so, this still just showed, that money talks loudest, because this SPOILED BRAT had a rich daddy to back him up, he and his accomplices who’d committed attempted murder on this college student still got nothing more than a slap on the wrist, and this just showed, how money can make anything happen, that if we’re ordinary people, without our rich daddies to back us up, we can, kiss our futures away, in the same, circumstances, had it been someone who’s not powerful or rich, do you think these younger second generation rich families could get off so easily?  I wouldn’t imagine so, a college student was BEATEN so badly he had to get sent to the I.C.U., and who knows what sort of complications he may have after he recovered physically…but hey, that’s the law for ya!

The Connections Between Student & Teacher from a Backpack Purse

The love this instructor has for his students, reciprocated by his students, this is a good sort of a teacher-students relation…translated…

My husband, Rui-Ze looked at my purse, told, “so broken, get a new one?”, he’d looked at me questioningly, couldn’t understand, how his wife, who had never been, frugal, would keep using a broke down purse.

“How can I?  It’s given to me by my teacher, and she’d brought it back from the U.S., I can’t, throw it, out!”, I couldn’t, just toss this gift from my former teacher who is in her elderly years, who’d brought it back from the U.S. to give to me.

I was the very first set of middle school students, since the village had a new middle school, there was, a group of newly graduated college students who became teachers.  The instructors went from the cities to the countryside to work, they’d established a good rapport with us, a group of down-to-earth, students from the countryside.

During the weekends, we took our instructors to visit where we grew up—the Taroko Scenic Area, along with the secret spot where only local kids like us would know about; riding our bicycles together, we’d gone picnicking all over the local areas.  On the weekends, the teachers took off their strict covers that they wore during the workweek, became very close to us, like they’re, our, older sisters and older brothers.

After we graduated, the teachers and students parted, and we got on our, own, ways.in a foreign place, how do we define ourselves?  That tiny spot where they’d stayed to work temporarily, how much of that would be, kept in the, memories?

More than fifty years later, our instructor moved back to Taiwan, from western United States, to find back his youthful days.  Revisiting his old stomping grounds, to, relive his youthful dreams of old.  And, us, the group of young girls, are all on his, “to-visit” list.

He was really kind, every year, he’d given us individual gifts.  After we’d gathered for the meals, he’d, taken the presents out, squinted his eyes, and, with great difficulty, read out the names he’d already, prewritten on the gifts.

“Chiu-Yun, this is yours, Ming-Ju, here’s yours………”

We were in smiles like we once were as adolescent girls, called our “here” in loud voices, bending our backs, bowed, with two hands, we’d, carried the presents he’d handed to us, in joy.  In the celebratory mood, I’d always, felt the warmth, imagining how he would, select out the presents he was, handing to us.

In the pandemic, he’d still gone through the quarantine phase, still met up with us, still brought along the presents just the same.  We’d all, forgotten how many years had passed, how the times moved forward in that river.  The world may have forgotten, but we’re, still, all, young.

Talking about my teacher’s presents, we’re all grateful, my former classmates in their late sixties, approaching seventy stated, “Teacher cherishing us!”, that light adjective, spoken of the long way he’d, traveled on life.  The wonders of this life, the connections which are, everlasting.

And so, this is the connections the students have toward and with their instructors, because they are a tightknit class, and everybody still stayed connected during their lives apart, and, they’d all felt grateful for how kind this school instructor of theirs had been, and now, as they are, older, they’d still, shown him the gratitude, for his kindness in treating them.

The Air, My Friend

The column by Jimmi Liao, moved to Thursday this week, on what is, lost as we became, adults…translated by me…

When We Were, Young, a Cardboard Box Can Bring Us a Ton of, Unlimited Joys.  But as We Became Adults, a Cardboard Box, Became, Nothing More than, Junk.

So, this is what’s lost, as we’d all become, adults, that sense of wonder, that wild imagination, that beliefs of, anything IS, possible, because, we got, socialized by our, external environment, gotten our dreams shot down, one too many, times, we’d, stopped, believing in these, childhood, fantasies, and lost our childhood, innocence.

The River of Lies, Separated Us…

Like how the River Styx worked, separated the living, FROM the, D-E-A-D???

The river of lies, separated us, and I no longer wanted to, swim or pay that toll to the Ferryman to get across, to be with you (‘cuz, I’m with STUPID, remember???).  The river of lies, separated us, I just, hadn’t noticed this, huge a GAP between our values, until I’d, found my self, DEAD, in that pile of, rotten away, lies of yours that’s, buried me, in of late.

take that raft down the River Styx, why don’t you??? Image from online

The river of lies, separated us, and, it’ll, keep us apart, for the rest of, all times, as I refused to, be with a LIAR, for I am, my own, truth, and what’s worst, is that you’re, the WORST kind of LIAR, the kind that DESERVED to stay, down there, in the, TENTH CIRCLE: self-deceit sort of a R-A-T (you’re lower than that, actually)…

The river of lies, separated us, and, I’m finally, fine and free, on my side, and I’m, walking toward my own truth, until I get there, finally, and I will be, too far away, from the river of lies, you’d, basked, baptized me, in.
