And, the victims are (drum roll please!)??? NOBODY, it’s still an ABUSER/ENABLER interaction, as these, tiny fish started, getting BAITED! Off of the Front Page Sections, translated…
“No Card, No Installment”, Purchasing the High-Tech Devices, Close to a Hundred Fell Victim, the Two Communications Store that Were Involved in These Schemes Immediately Stopped Services, to Prevent More from Falling Victim
There were, the many college students who were enticed, to purchase the high-tech devices using “no credit card, no installment payments”, claiming that no need to pay, and the victims were told they can make $5,000N.T.s too, but in the end, none of the victims received what they’d ordered, and had the debts of anywhere from $10,000N.T. to $100,000N.T. on their, backs. The Fengjia University confirmed, that they’d received over a hundred calls from students who fell victim to this, that the school had sent the memos to the students of the university, warning them NOT to fall for it, and the Fengjia University is the school with the most number of victims. While the Donghai Catholic University had one student reporting getting scammed; the Lingguo Technical University, with three; and Hongguan Technical University with one.
The female student from Fengjia University told, that in a former coworker’s connection, she’d met an agent, and the agent had, enticed her to purchase the high-tech devices with “no credit cards necessary, no installment payments”, that she didn’t have to pay anything, and she gets to have the commissions of $5,000N.T.s. She’d first purchased an iPad at $17,000N.T., then a cellphone at $40,000N.T.s, and for the first three months, she’d not received any payment notices, but, soon as the bill came, she’d had to pay close to $8,000N.T. per month, that was when she’d realized, that she’d been, scammed, and she couldn’t get in touch with the agent who’d sold her the items, and now, she not only didn’t receive the cell phone, and the iPad she’d ordered, she still had $110,000N.T. debts on her back.
unfortunately, this “warning label” wasn’t plastered on it…image from online
The female student from Jingyi University in March was introduced by a friend from Fengjia using the “no credit installment plan”, purchased an iPad, and that she only needed to turn her own laptop into the shop, then she was promised $5,000N.T.s, without using a credit card, she’d signed the contract immediately, and used the installment payment plans. The female student told, that she’d received the payment notices from the agent the first few months, then, nothing, and now, she’s, carrying a debt of $70,000N.T. on her back.
There was also a student from Hongguan Tech that got scammed, the male college student was in the neighborhood of Fengjia University, and was called by a cell phone merchant agent to purchase a cell phone, but he’s now, carrying the debts of $100,000N.T.s, and soon as he’d found that he’d been, scammed, he’d, immediately, notified, the police.
The Fengjia University in the letters, reminded the students, that there’d been recent cases of students purchasing items and getting scammed, that the scam artists tapped into the mindset of “getting something cheaper” of the victims’ mindsets, offering the high amounts of cash or high end items as the rewards, that the key to not getting scammed, is not to be greedy.
There are a total of four claims from the Taichung Law Offices, later, one of the victims retracted, currently, there are, a total of fifteen cases under investigations. The consumer safety agents told, that they’d already asked the related agencies to have the two communication shops stop operating, to prevent the new cases of being signed up for, to prevent even more victims.
The consumer safety agents yesterday inquired the store that was responsible, and the cashier told, that there were the groups of students that came in to purchase the cell phones, that the store did NOT take the cell phones from them, that the students took the cell phones they’d bought with them away. The agents stated, that the whereabouts of the cellphones are unknown, and now, it’s left to the investigators to find them, that they can track the cell phones based off of the serial numbers in the contracts that the students had signed upon purchase to find out where the cell phones had actually, gone.
So, this is a total, SCAM, because this IS, too good to be, true, and the scam artists took advantage of the human natures of wanting to pay less to get more, to scam, and, the scammed are, those who are, younger, still in school, because they’re, EASY targets!
