In the University of Michigan, University of Indiana, More than Dozens of Students Were Protesting, Before the Commencements in University of Southern California, Columbia University, the Police Were Stationed
The campout in support of Palestine protests are spreading across the U.S. university campuses of late, this month, the commencement ceremonies of the graduations of the colleges in the universities are hit first. In University of Michigan, University of Indiana, the protests occurred on the fourth when the graduation commencements were, held, while the University of Virginia had called in the police authorities to help clear the protesters off the school grounds, at least twenty five arrested.

The University of Michigan Ann Arbor held the graduation commencements on the fourth, there were, about seventy-five students protesters, marching across the campus. The university stated, that at the beginning of the ceremonies, they’d shouted out the mottos, and marched onto the avenue, the campus security had, escorted them to the back of the stadium, to allow them to protest freely, nobody was arrested in the whole process.
The spokesperson of U of M, Mastony stated, “for decades, there’d been peaceful protests like this one at all the graduation commencements in University of Michigan history.”
The University of Indiana in Bloomington commencement on the fourth, there were 6,700 graduates, plus the parents, a total of more than 40,000 in attendance, there were the police forces in and out of the auditorium stationed, but there were still, dozens of students at the time of the ceremonies, split into two groups, exiting out of the stadium in protest, and called out the motto of support for Palestine.
In U of V, Charlotteville, the police announced the take down of the tents of the protesters on X, chased off the protesters, and at least, twenty-five were, arrested. The S.A.I.C., and the Vassar College, all found the police to clear the protesters off the campuses, to arrest the students camping out.
In Vermont University, the school originally had asked the U.N. Ambassador to come to speak at the commencement, but at the demands of the protesters, this arrangement was, cancelled.

In Kent State in Ohio, hundreds of Palestine-Support protesters gathered on the campus on the fourth, called out for the ceasefire of the Israeli-Hamas War, demanded that the school cut its ties with the arms dealers, and the weapon manufacturers, and commemorated the massacre of students of the Vietnamese War Era protesters’ fifty-fourth anniversary. On May fourth, 1974, the national guard stationed at the school, to keep the protesters in check opened fire toward the students, causing four protesting students to die, nine wounded.
In USC, the university told CNN on the fourth, that the school in enforcing its safety measures, that the LAPD officers will be stationed in the school before the commencement. The school announced on the third, that it’d planned to host the “family graduate celebration”.
As for in Columbia University, the students had continually protested in the campouts for weeks on end, after the massive arrests by the police, the school asked the New York Police Department to station in the school until at least the seventh, two days after the designated date of the commencements. For the purpose of safety measures, the main commencement of Columbia University had been, cancelled, the smaller scales of the colleges’ commencement still, planned. The Barnard College staff members are planning to attend an alternative graduation ceremonies on the sixteenth.
In the future weeks, there are more commencements, graduation ceremonies in the U.S. Washington Post summed up all of the related news reports, the police and the statements from the universities, in just the past two weeks, there’d been, more than 2,300 arrested across the university and college campuses of the U.S. The protesters’ primary demands were for the schools to stop the transactions from the Israeli-supportive enterprises, demanded that the schools withdraw the money from these, enterprises.
So, this was, similar to the peace protests during the Vietnam War Era (still wouldn’t know, ‘cuz hadn’t been around that long!), but, this showed, how when the government is supporting the WRONG side, the masses rise up, and, these students are doing, MORE for the sake of DEMOCRACY than the government of the U.S. is doing, supporting the Palestinians to set up their own country, which had been barred by the U.N., since when again??? 1947, and yes, just CHECKED my “references” online…
