The U.S. officials also hoped that Rodriguez could ultimately step down after she implements free election in the country. All of the deadlines of these demands hadn’t been set yet, the U.S. officials also stressed, that there won’t be an election in Venezuela any time soon.
The WH refused to comment on this, the State Department reiterated what Rubio had stated before, that Trump expected that Rodriguez would be more compliant than Maduro was, but he’d refused to comment on the requests made of Rodriguez.
A higher up U.S. official told, that currently, the government’s goal is to ensure that Venezuela pushes forth the benefits and interests of the United States, and refused to comment on the requests made of Rodriguez by the U.S.
