Public Participation: that Final Mile of the Net of Social Security

The policies regarding public safety, having just one isn’t enough, we need, both, but the government is, shorthanded in this…observations, from the Front Page Sections, translated…

Just as expected, with the random stabbing on the MRT trains in Taichung, the discussions of the patching up of the holes in the net of social security came to the surfaces, and the means to prevent the recurrences is to enforce the patrols by the police department and the security guards hired by the MRT offices.  But all of these, are the post ops of the preset of having a safe and secure place.

But other than this, how can the government, the society, adapt?  The holes on the nets of social security, suggested that the software systems operations not being quite there yet, and so, adding the patrol manpower is the normal way.  Yet, how to structure a secure society, is reliant on the consolidation of the soft and the, hardware.  For instance, the emergency report means on the MRT, the structures, and the testing of the alert systems regularly is a must.  And yet, the matter of software, isn’t solely reliant on the personnel of the security guards, but also, on the awareness of safety means of all citizens, built up on the common value of helping one another out.

we all need to snap out of this…as what’s happening all around the world, involves US! Cartoon found online

The mayor of Taichung, Lu visited the individual who’d fought off the attacker, and gave the brave man a free pass of the Taichung MRT systems, to set up a good role model for the rest.  This is affirming of how the participation, the mending of the net of social security of the people, encouraging more to pay more attention to the social interactions from day to day.  The urban sociology is on how city dwellers are usually aloof and indifferent about each other’s lives, through the calls of moral responsibility, and the reward systems set in, it can help the public be more participatory in the welfare of public safety in whole, to help change the situation.

On the hardware the papers noted how the emergency intercom needed to get pressed for three whole seconds for the communicatory means to get set up, and in the testing of the system by the news media, the intercom was pressed for a whole thirty seconds, and no response.  And normally, when something accidental happens, there would be the sirens, the lights, which can alert the general public, and it can, warn the attackers.  And in the past, to prevent the money from getting used wrongly, there were the many restrictions placed on the alert systems, which made it lost its, needed, functions.

Adding the personnel to strengthen the security, this will surely work, for the immediate time, but, the changes from the systematic, to ensure that everything is working properly, the update the hardware, then, getting every citizen onboard the program, making everyone aware of how the alert systems function, this is, the final mile of patching up the net of social security completely.

And so, this points out the shortcomings of the systems of alert, not only do the hardware need to be in place, we the people also need to, be more alert, of these, situations, and, due to how aloof we all become, because unless our own rights were, infringed, we could, care less about what happens to the, next guy, because that’s how human nature works, there’s no way that this system of preventing tragic things will work,  because we still all operated on N.I.M.B.Y., and if it’s not inside my backyard, let it be someone else’s, problem!
