His Father Who’d Had a Stroke Died, and He Didn’t Notify the Police Until the Corpse Became Rotted and Maggots Were Growing on it

From the Front Page Sections, translated…

The police department in Taoyuan received a call from a man named Lee yesterday, said that his father who’d had a stroke for many years had died of natural causes at home, as the police came, they’d found, that Lee’s father had been locked up in the bedroom for long term, and was fed by Lee, who’d sent the food in, by way of the cracks underneath the doors, and the father was found dead by the doors, and there were maggots on his corpse, the police suspected, that there’s more to it to how the man had died, and asked the courts to allow them to take Lee into custody, which the courts allowed.

The police stated, that the fifty-four father of Lee was curled by the door, his face had been eaten by the maggots to beyond any recognition; Lee told the police, that because his father would get violent toward his mother, with a cognitive condition, at the start of May, in order to protect his own mother, he’d used a club, to beat his father, and the police are not ruling out that his father’s death may have been caused by it.

Yesterday at around nine in the morning, the police received a call from Lee, said that his father who’d had a stroke many years ago had died of natural causes at home two days ago, the officers went to check out the scene, they’d found, that Lee and his parents lived in a four-story building; as the officers entered into the apartment, the rancid smell had gotten into their noses.

The room where Lee’s father was found to have died in had little to NO furniture, no chairs, or bed, there wasn’t even a mattress, and, Lee’s father would normally sleep on the floor that’s filled with a ton of junk.

The police asked Lee the reasons, he’d told them, that his father had been abusive toward his mother who was diagnosed with a cognition disorder, and, even though he had a stroke, he’d still crawled out of his bed, and beat up his mother, that, was why he’d tied a boy scout knot on the door, to prevent his father from coming out of the room, and normally, his mother and he would shove the food by cracks on the doors to feed his father.

Lee also told, that when his father was abusive toward his mother, he’d once used a club, to defend his mother, the last time he’d beaten his father up was at the start of May; he’d been busy at work lately, didn’t pay any attention to how his father was, until that rancid smell came from the bedroom, as he’d opened up the doors again, he’d found his father dead.

The police stated, that Lee’s father had another daughter, rented away from home, although she’d come home to visit her mother often, but, because the house was often filled with the smell of rotting foods, it didn’t raise an alarm for her, and couldn’t tell where the smell was from, as the daughter was told of the news of her father’s death, she’d started crying.

And, Lee’s mother couldn’t set her mind up about how her husband had died, she’d told the officers, that she told her son last Thursday, “your father seemed to have died”, then it was, a couple of days ago, she’d still heard him breathing.  After she was told that her husband had died, she’d shown, a lack of emotional response.

The neighbors said, that the two siblings from the Lee’s household both worked hard, and, it was them, who’d taken care of their elderly father who’d had five strokes.  The police investigated and found, that the family wasn’t listed as high-risk, nor did the members apply for a restraining order.

The officers stated, that while they’d interrogated Lee, he’d shown distress over his father’s death, but, he seemed to be holding something back, and from the outside, they couldn’t tell whether or not the father died of starvation, illness, or, whether or not he was beaten to death by his own son, the cause of death will come out, after his autopsy, the D.A. already received an okay from the courts, to take Lee into custody.

And so, we may speculate what may have happened, maybe, the son was finally fed up over how his father still tortured his mother, and, he’d lost it, or that the father just died, because of the illnesses that he had, but, NEGLECT is what seemed to have happened in this case.
