The Memories that Can’t be Wiped Away with Her Dementia

There are those, memories, so stubborn, like that grout on the tiles, that no matter how hard you’d scrubbed, they just won’t get off, that can’t be wiped away with her dementia.

Like how she was hurt badly by her father, how she’d gotten beaten up by him every time she got in his way after he came home drunk.  The memories that can’t be wiped away with her dementia, I thought, that dementia was supposed to make you forget everything, well, apparently, the process of dementia wasn’t quickly acting enough, because when she’d talked of how she was beaten up and bruised by her families, she still had that look of anger on her face, she’d bitten her own lips down, real hard.

The memories that can’t be wiped away with her dementia, why is that?  Was it because those memories are so deeply ingrained inside of her, that not even dementia can get to?  Or, did dementia exacerbate her remembering the bad times even more?  We wouldn’t know here…

The memories that can’t be wiped away with dementia, dementia may make you forget temporarily, but, there would still be moments of lucidity, when you can recall clearly and precisely, unless, of course, you’re in the more advanced stages of the illness, then, you’d end up forgetting EVERYTHING, in this case, for her, it would be a good thing, but, she hadn’t gotten to that point in time yet, so…
